Week 39 Ground Control to Major Tom
Hey guys, this week went fast.
This ward is really ramping up! We have had leadership from pretty much every organization looking to leave with us, which is awesome! Really cool to be in an área that the members want to see change. Sometimes the schedules worked out and sometimes not but was still really fun. Go leave with you missionaries.
Otherwise, this week was a little harder to work. There's a holiday called Corpos Cristis that was this week, so that with World Cup just meant not a ton of people weren't home. Nor were they answering their phones...
Maybe they just aren't actually interested...
We have about two people who are actually "hungry" for baptism. One of them is Thauan, who is great and actually keeping commitments. Just his mom is a little helicopter because he had battled/ is battling against some mental health problems in the past, but really a good family.
The other is Miguel who's an NTM. I met him when I first got to Satélite, because he worked with other Elders but never got baptized. Why wasn't he baptized? Apart from the family being inactive, they were all baptized at age 10 instead of age 8. Just the belief of this family that the age of accountability is 10 years old not 8. Anyways, we went to talk to him this week and he said "yeah my family is making be wait until I turn 10 to be baptized". Asked him when he turns 10 and he said, today. We showed up on his 10th birthday. The path of reactivating this family is a little longer, but we're totally gonna do it this transfer. Also Miguel looks like Harry Potter and his brother like Ron Weasley. I'll get a photo with them next week.
Anyway other than these two jems we're on the hunt for some more folks. Keep us in your prayers!
Elder Pinkney
