Week 55 Plain Plains
We had a difficult week. It wasn't until three days in that we found people who we felt were interested. A great difficulty was a member that we left with, who perhaps took away from our focus (and spirit) instead of enhancing our efforts. The people who we did find had (reasonable) excuse that kept them from coming to church. Worse even, a 4 of our stronger recent converts didn't make it to church as well, which also made it difficult for their friends (whom we are teaching) to come to church as well. I don't feel it was a problem of effort on our end, but more how and where we were working mixed with the Will of God. But the future looks bright for Chapadinha and Elder Campos and I stayed in good spirits.
I was pondering about why I went to Chapadinha and feeling perhaps a little guilty that I didn't help any one come unto Christ in a way that resulted in a baptism. But sharing my thoughts with João, a recent convert there, he assured me that I left the Branch stronger that when I came. And yet, I feel like I needed Chapadinha more than Chapadinha needed me. Because even when our friends with real dates, who knew about their goal to be baptism backed out the same week, I didn't get down. Not that I didn't feel pressure to work, but I wasn't worried about my worth. I hope that I portray a more confident missionary than the Elder Pinkney a year ago, and a more capable missionary than the Elder Pinkney 6 months ago.
