Week 56 Octopus' Garden
Fala meus queridos!
Things are doing great in the new transfers, life got a little crazy at the beginning of the week but conference weekend was peaceful. Where am I? I am in downtown Teresina (Horto), and it's pretty hard to work in a large part of our area. What am I? I'm a missionary- that works in the mission office (I am over references). Some new and different responsibilities, but honestly I don't do much. I did get to help with all the arriving and departing missionaries which was cool. Including, I dropped off Elder Inês at the airport for his flight back to Cabo Verde!
But, we still spend a good amount of time out on the street! We have a decent group of friends that are making progress including Maria Vitória e Halbert! They are dating (but don't live together 🙏) and going to church, reading the Book of Mormon, and learning English! They have a lot of questions but Elder Edmonds and I have faith in the Spirit to help calm their doubts.
Conference was pretty cool. We watch most of the sessions in our chapel with members.
One of the parts I thought was cool were the words of Elder Gong. He said that some recent converts felt that missionaries were led to their door, that they could be baptized and help their ancestors receive the blessings of the gospel. I always thought it hard sometimes to hype up new members about family history and temple work, because it's usually something new and in Teresina, it takes a while for people to get to the temple. But it is such a critical part of our work as missionaries!
